This is my 3rd steam cleaner and by far this is the best. The Steamboy is the easiest to use. Just fill up the removable container with water and go, no waiting as the last 2 mops did. The point on the mop helps it get into the corners. I use the steam because I have 4 animals and the steamboy cleaner leaves my floor sanitized without using chemicals.

I was replacing the same model vacuum I already own that had a broken part but I didn't realize that I was ordering a re-manufactured vacuum. I am not sure if I just missed that in the description or it was never noted.
The motor is louder and does not sound like it should and it has a filter warning light that won't shut off no matter how well I clean the filters.
I would not recommend buying any re-manufactured product to anyone.

Fresh Wave Multi-Purpose Cleaning Additive, 32 Ounce Review

Fresh Wave Multi-Purpose Cleaning Additive, 32 Ounce

Pleasant smell. I have an adorable shelter cat, that was extremely timid. She seems to wet on a soft surface when there is any disruption to her household, with the master's bed and pillow and our dog's bed being her favorite spots. She has been checked out by the vet, and seems to be doing better the longer we have her.
If I add a little to the prewash, wash and rinse I only have to launder the item ONCE. There is no lingering smell from the "accident" that would cause her to return to the spot and use it again. I haven't needed to use the second bottle as often as the first.

Bosch Formula Electro Duo Plus Hepa Canister Vacuum Cleaner Review

Bosch Formula Electro Duo Plus Hepa Canister Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I do heavy research on everything I buy. Here are my thoughts on buying this canister vacuum: Impressions
The Bosch Formula BSG71370UC is amazing: high performance, solid construction, convenient design. Small/light enough to be portable, but large enough to have built in attachment storage and a high capacity bag system. Suction power is adjustable, providing two things. First, full power is to powerful for some surfaces (there are warnings in the manual). Second, running at normal/low power, the unit is quieter than a microwave oven and you think its not pulling well until you put your hand over the hose - yeow! First impression of the first use on carpet that got regularly vacuumed: "wow, its looks like its been washed!" Attachments
This is the top of the formula line, including the turbo upholstery attachment. This draws energy from the airflow on the suction and transfers it to a scrubbing brush, with the sound of a turbo charger. This and all the attachments work like gang busters. The main carpet wand has a switch for turning the large scrubber's electric motor on/off (carpet/floors), and the suction with the crevice tool is so strong, nothing gets away. Even with the integrated motor, the head of this unit is low profile enough to fit in and around most furniture. The cord auto retracts, just give it a tug and let go. You can pull the canister itself behind you, the 3-360 wheels turn on a dime, but getting around objects still requires pull. With cleaning power combined with multiple filters, this is ideal for people with allergies. Floors
It handles bare floors mightily, just flip the handle located power switch to off to stop the spinning brush. For complete area cleaning, the small brush attachment hits the baseboards and low walls. The units wheels, of course, handle even better. Hair
My main use for this and the reason I bought this unit is cat hair, a job it handles well. With 2 sizes of scrubbing nozzles, no unattached hair can hide for long. Parts
In the configuration for full carpet/floors, it comes apart in 3 sections, hose, tube/handle, and powered nozzle. All 3 require both hands to disconnect, one to squeeze the release mechanism and the other to pull. One of the extra's on this unit is that the power wires for the motorized head are integrated into the tubes/hoses. This makes for quick dis/connects. Negatives
1) The hose is supposed to spin 360 degrees to avoid tangles but doesn't spin freely enough to work without thought. 2) I like responsive switches. The power switch has a lag time, designed to be used by feet so you have to hold a moment to turn it on and off. 3) Price is high, but abcvacuum.com cuts right through this. Surprise Use
Dust Buster replacement: Leaving it parked and plugged in, full time behind the sofa my cat frequents. Its so quiet on low, the bits moving down the pipe make more noise than the motor. Long Term Update
Having it for many months now, here's what else I've learned. The bag full gauge is tough to read, so the easiest way to tell the bag needs changing is that suction goes down - ie when you find yourself using full power. The turbo attachment isn't much more powerful than the standard small nozzle nor as powerful as the electric nozzle. So provided its clean, the floor/carpet electric nozzle cleans upholstery with gusto, leaving the turbo nozzle doing just the hard to reach places. And last but not least, a WONDERFUL way to clean stairs is by connecting the electric power floor/carpet nozzle directly to the wand, leaving the extension tube off. Alternatives
The rule with canister vacs is dexterity, the rule with uprights is mobility. This is my favorite canister, the Eureka Sanitaire SC6600 is my favorite upright:
http://www.epinions.com/pr-Eureka_Sanitaire_SC6600A_Upright_Vacuum
Both do carpets + floors + elevated/hose suction. Decide for yourself which is more important. Canister = superior clean, upright = superior speed. The Sanitaire SC6600 is better for on-the-go use, with a 3 stage power switch with off/suction/suction scrub. The second position is for floors and if you're in the third (doing carpets) and pull out the hose for spot cleaning, it automatically switches to the second and then back again when you reinsert.
Sanitaire (eureka) also makes a canister thats worth looking at but with which I have no personal experience. Oddly, its sold under their commercial brand so its hard to find:

Didi Seven (Didi 7) Ultra Universal Stain Remover (2 oz tube) Review

Didi Seven (Didi 7) Ultra Universal Stain Remover (2 oz tube)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Well.... yes I would be careful with this product and not use it indiscriminately. Think about what you are using it on and if it is possible to take the color from the garment while you are removing the stain! I have used this for about 10 years or more since a friend told me about it. I use it for those impossible stains to remove. And, usually it works. If it doesn't, then I would be throwing the garment out anyway. What do I have to lose? I may save one of my cherished garments by carefully using DiDi7! And, usually I do save the garment.
I'm ordering another tube.
BTW - I use an old toothbrush to put the product on the garment and then add water. Brush lightly.... and wait... sometimes leaving the garment for several hours. I have never had a garment develop holes... or fade in color although I must admit I usually do this with very light-colored garments. I would not put this on a dark cloth as I'm sure it would fade the color at a minimum and might remove the color.
I'm ordering another tube!

Miele S184 Upright Vacuum - Powerhouse Vacuum Cleaner - White Review

Miele S184 Upright Vacuum - Powerhouse Vacuum Cleaner - White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I would like to help spare someone my frustration. First, this is a good vac. No it's not Miele's top of the line $900 - it's a little louder than I wanted, and initially seems kind of cheap and lightweight. But if you are sick and tired of pushing and lugging a heavy upright, this is the vac you want. It is small, compact, and can be lifted easily with one arm at about 14 lbs. The plastic seems high quality, a metallic flake blue. Says on the box it is made in the USA. My quest was to find an upright that could switch from pretty plush thick carpet, to hardwood floors. My heavy old Eureka worked OK on the hardwood, as it sat high, and therefore the brush roller never contacted the floor, thus avoiding damage. Unfortunately this isn't the case with this Miele. When the brush roller bar is activated, it definitely sits very low and contacts the hard floor. So Miele has an on-off switch for the roller to remedy this problem. Trouble is, there is really not much suction when the roller is turned off, just a wee bit, more on the right side. So I guess I go back to sweeping the hard floors. I had read that canister vacs are really the way to go for houses with both carpet and hard floor. But most canisters work best on thinner carpet. For thick carpet, you are advised to get powerhead canisters (heavier brush roller), but wow, the cost runs up there for Mieles, etc. So I went with this upright Miele because it was a bargain. I was told by a vac guy that Miele is discontinuing the line and staying with their high end vacs. This Miele is a dream to push on carpet--so smooth and light. It has so much suction that it does suck up smaller area rugs of 3X4, but those can go in the wash. The 184 model does have a power adjustment switch to lower the suction. Overall I am happy with it. The Hepa exhaust air seems very pure - no smell at all compared to the old uprights we all grew up with. I read that most cheap US made Hepas are false Hepas because the vacs aren't properly sealed. I trust Miele. It also comes with a thick high quality filter bag.

EL1012A Ergorapido Hand Vacuum

This is the most INCREDIBLE stick vac and hand vac! I really LOVE it! I am used to my Kirby and while I adore it, I was really curious about this item. My opinion is that Electrolux has a wonderful reputation and paired with the potentially extreme convenience I decided to give this a try. I have 2 babies, 2 kitties, hardwood floors throughout with some ceramic tile and a couple of area rugs. This item is fabulous on each and every surface! I use it on all floor surfaces, rugs, furniture, even bedding (ie: kitties go under the bed leaving their fur on the dust ruffles) with great results! It will pick up kitty hair, remodeling dust, new rug shedding, cheerios, and more! I've seen gripes about emptying the 'chamber' and, in my opinion, if you don't want your stick vac to pick up debris - find a cheaper stick vac! This one is absolutely wonderful, worth every penny and then some! Buy It!

Lindhaus Activa 30 Domestic 12" Red Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Lindhaus Activa 30 Domestic 12 Red Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned this vacuum for a couple of years now. Although it's expensive and not "fancy", we purchased it because our previous machines were never satisfactory. They either blew dirt back out the exhaust, were super noisy and/or heavy, and the cake was taken when a relatively new but just-out-of warranty machine needed repair and could not be fixed. The Lindhaus is very lightweight and easy to manuver, very quiet so others are not disturbed and children and pets are not afraid of the noise. It does not have a "headlight", but does have an indicator light that goes on when the bag is full and needs to be changed. It's easy to change the bag. The machine is repairable and though I have never needed this service, there are several vacuum stores in my area that can handle this brand. The only downside, I would say, is the bags seem a little more expensive, but I should add that I have not priced the bags of other brands lately. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a reliable machine and isn't overly impressed with bells, whistles and doo-dads.

Fein PB350 Electric Floor Brush Review

Fein PB350 Electric Floor Brush
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Fein PB350 Electric Floor Brush seemed like a good idea: Take a first class (albeit heavy), quiet shop vac with good filtration and also make it the inside-the-house vacuum cleaner by adding a $240 powered floor brush kit. And as other reviewers note, it does a good job picking up dirt. Here's the problem:
* The power cord that runs from the unit to the power head is on the outside of the hose and tangles easily. The half dozen or so clips Fein includes are half what you need. The cord-and-hose combination, even with extra clips, is clunky and looks kind of dorky. Guys may find it acceptable but spouses may not.
* Undoing the power cord to swap out the power floor brush is a hassle, so I bought a second Fein hose, for $60 -- one for regular tools, one for the power floor brush, and I swap out the entire assembly
* Total cost works out to about $700-$800: 8 gallon vac, the wet/dry tools kit (about $100), the electric floor brush, and the second hose
We went this direction because our house vac was dying and I figured, what the heck, give it a try. If I did it again, I'd get the 6 gallon Turbo II not 8 gallon Turbo III because the still kind of bulky for what I do (although still way smaller than the 16 gallon Craftsman shop vac we still have#, and I'd buy the electric floor brush only if was around $100, not $240 #I bet Fein's unit costs are high because it's a low volume item). I have a one-generation removed Turbo III and the molding on the underside of the handle is like 3 knife edges that cut into your hand.

Royal RY7300 Protégé Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Royal RY7300 Protégé Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Initially, I was not familiar with the Royal brand of vacuum cleaners. I did a little research and found that Royal is a high-end brand name. Upon receipt of the box I opened the package to find 3 simple pieces. The main unit (motor, bag area, etc,) a hose and [finally] the handle.
The assembly took less than 5 minutes and was completed using 3 screws to secure the handle unit to the main unit.
The bottom of the motor unit is all metal and quite sturdy. The handle is metal sturdy and secure feeling as well.
Turning on the unit you immediately feel the strong suction from the rather quiet motor. Once you release the head to start vacuum you feel a firm (but controllable) movement forward as the brush goes to work vibrating and brushing the carpet.
One immediate observation from when I started vacuuming was that I was 'hearing' a LOT of dirt and 'stuff' being sucked into the bag (far more than with my aging Eureka.)
The first thing I wanted to test was the auto-matic brush adjustment. I have never really liked auto brush/height adjustment because I pretty much always like mine set on low. The auto adjustment on the Dyson is what made be return it (promptly) because it was horrible. However, in the case of the Royal Protege' 7300 I was pleasantly surprised at the auto adjustment from thick carpet to wood back to thick carpet.
Overall, at $99 for a $500 vacuum this is an awesome deal on an excellent vacuum. I would have paid more for this unit but not $500. If you're looking for a great vacuum deal you can't beat this one (unless it's free.)

Powered by a 12-amp motor, the Royal Protégé provides plenty of muscle for removing even ground-in dirt from carpets or floors. The 15-inch-wide nozzle covers a greater area, shortening tedious cleaning time, while HEPA-type filtration captures 99.9% of dust and allergens, making this model a great choice for asthma sufferers. The RapidReach hose extends the user's grasp and eases access to awkward spots such as underneath furniture or beds, while a complete suite of onboard tools further extends the Protégé's cleaning abilities, including a crevice tool, upholstery tool, dust brush, and telescopic wand to clean ceilings, baseboards, couches, and more. The 35-foot power cord lets users clean even large single rooms without having to unplug and replug, and the rubber wheels won't mark hardwood floors. The vacuum's solid construction features a metal brushroll and metal plate for improved durability, and the bypass motor system means even large pieces of debris won't burn out the motor or fan. Additional features include a full bag indicator, a brilliant headlight for illuminating dark corners and crevices, automatic height adjustment, and a sturdy metal handle with comfort grip. The Royal Protégé RY7300 weighs 24 pounds for shipping and is covered by a four-year warranty.

Lindhaus Healthcare Pro HEPA 12" Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Lindhaus Healthcare Pro HEPA 12 Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When we bought a new (new to us) house in 2001, we bought a new vacuum as well. The house is approximately 3,000 square feet, and our old vacuum was running out of gas.
I thoroughly research any significant purchase - if I'm not happy with something it will usually end up being replaced, so it's cheaper buy right the first time.
When I was questioning the repair person in the rather large vacuum specialty store that fixed my old vacuum about what HE would buy for his family, he stated that he would buy a Lindhaus (I had never heard of them, and this store did not sell them). He gave a host of reasons including how well they worked, build quality, reliability, cost of ownership, etc. etc. Given that he spoke so highly of them, without even having the ability to sell me one, it seemed high praise indeed. I added them to my list to check out.
To cut to the chase: After much research and shopping amongst a number of brands, I bought a Lindhaus Healthcare Pro 14" vacuum, online. I also bought a number of accessories (extra long hoses to vacuum ceiling light fixtures etc.)
I am most satisfied with my purchase.
It is quite powerful, relatively quiet, easy to handle and cleans extremely well. It has never needed any repair of any kind to date - no belts or brushes, no problem whatsoever. The bags are not messy, hold a great deal, and are easy to change and deal with . You can use Hepa or standard filters, and it also has an additional filter that comes with the bags. It does not "smell" or put dust in the air. It was very well thought out and designed - down to the very long and well made power cord. It still looks like the day we bought it.
Lindhaus vacuums are often used by hospitals and other institutions, and are well regared on the allergy boards.
I recommended Lindhaus to my sister, who was not happy with her Oreck. She is much happier with the Lindhaus, notes that it "just cleans better", and has not had to do any work on hers either (she had to replace the belts on her Oreck regularly). The Lindhaus weighs about 5lbs more than her Oreck, the only disadvantage.
These vacuums cost more than the average vacuum, but less than the high-end types. It was more than I had originally imagined I would spend on a vacuum (x2), but I am happy I took the plunge. It is now 9 years old and I see no reason that it will not last for 20 years, and give excellent service for all of them.
Highly recommended.

ROTHO Twin TT Water-Filtration HEPA Canister Vacuum Cleaner by Robert Thomas LP Review

I just love this vacuum. My cleaning woman loves it, too. At the beginning I thought I made a mistake because it takes some reading to understand how it works. However, if one takes the time, this machine it's incredible. the first thing I noticed was the clean odor when vacuuming. I don't have to put any kind of deodorant or pellets in the bag. Secondly, as you vacuum longer with it, the amount of soil in the container dimishes and now it takes about an hour of vacuuming before we have to change the water. We have tested it on rugs, upholstery and windows, and once you get to know how it works, it's really good. I am very happy with my ROTHO Twin TT and as much as I love my Miele, this one has become the queen, in my house.

Miele : S163 Universal Mini Upright Vacuum - Black Review

Miele : S163 Universal Mini Upright Vacuum - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
a powerful vacuum (1000w) that's fairly quiet and does a fine job on both hardwood floors and rugs. it's great around the apartment with its 26 ft long cord.
the miele s143 is solidly constructed without being overly weighty and is nicely balanced. the head pivots slightly side to side and is actually helpful vacuuming around things like a furniture leg. the head loses full contact somewhat when you bring the vacuum down to the level of the floor in the rug mode -- trying (ummph) to get deep under the sofa or bed but otherwise but generally does a fine job.
the heart of the s143 can be used with a smaller head/crevice attachment and without the long handle, much like a really powerful hand vac. a very useful feature for cleaning furniture.
there is an option to upgrade to a hepa filter (although the included carbon filter bag is good enough for me) and i believe an option to upgrade to a motorized head but i suspect if that's a serious consideration, the s147 is probably the way to go.
off tangent: i'm not sure why the description lists Ivory as the color but the s143, as far as i know, only comes in the mint green shown in the picture.
all in all, a finely built product that's nicely met the needs of this apartment dweller... though a tad on the pricey side.

I have a Kirby that is a really good machine. But it is SO heavy and very hard to maneuver. I had purchased a Dirt Devil vac and was very pleased with its performance. So when I saw the Easy Steamer at such a good price I decided to give it a try. I am very pleased with the product. No, it doesn't heat the water or have rotating brushes. But for such a light-weight product it really gets the water and dirt out of the carpet. I was able to place furniture back within an hour of cleaning the carpet. I am very pleased with this product and grateful to Dirt Devil and Amazon.com both for offering it at such a good price.

Dyson DC17 Asthma & Allergy Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review

Dyson DC17 Asthma and Allergy Upright Vacuum Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just purchased the DC 17 allergy and asthma today. Have done a lot of research over the last week and read many reviews. I really wanted a good vacuum I can depend on; I have 6 kids and vacuum daily! Best I can tell each model has the same amount of suction, they just have different options in color, filter placement/type and attachments. I was set on the DC14 model but this was on sale for a great price and had a few more attachments I felt I would really use. So far I am pleased. It appears to pick up as expected, I'm pretty impressed with the amount of junk in the canister and my carpets feel cleaner. This is very easy to maneuver; I see no need for the more expensive ball model, unless you will use all the fancy attachments. All the full size Dyson's felt heavy to me in the store, so I was concerned with getting it up and down the stairs, but in comparison to Hoover etc. they all seem to be about the same weight and hey we could all use a good workout. I find no issues with pushing it around, it moves with great ease and transitions surfaces flawlessly. Turning the beater off to move from carpet to solid floors is a breeze and the feature works wonderfully, just a touch of an easy to reach button. The attachments fit on firmly and do not fall off. The wand will take some getting use to as it is solid for about 18+" and I am use to the hose being flexible at the base. I don't have to bend as much using it though so my back is happy! The hose is very easy to remove for use, just cannot use it for quick pick-ups until you unwind the entire plug, so one minor downfall. It states there is a 5 year warranty, I did not read what all that covers, I will just be relieved to have a vacuum last more than a year with the beating I give them. It is important as with ALL canister vacuums that you tap or wipe out the excess dust from the chamber weekly. I have had many canister vacuums and learned early on to do this often to keep the fine dust from building up or you will loose suction. The filter is easy to remove and clean by running under tap water, so will save on replacement filters in the future! Overall I am happy; we will see how I feel at the 6 mo. And 1 yr. mark. But no regrets today. The only negative I can agree with that I have seen over the last week is the not being able to remove the wand without unwinding the entire cord.
